Glasgow's businesses have been recognised for making the city bloom. At the 2026 Let Glasgow Flourish awards, held at Trades House, Ardnamurchan Restaurant and Bar on Hope Street was named overall winner, lifting the Robertson Silver Spade, the top prize presented each year to the best display in the city.

The awards celebrate businesses and organisations that go the extra mile with floral displays for public benefit, from hanging baskets and window boxes to larger planting schemes. Judges toured the city's streets during the first two weeks of August 2025 to assess the entries.

Ardnamurchan's general manager, Jean-Marc Ducasse, accepted the spade and said the win was the latest step in a run of strong results. The restaurant had previously won silver and gold, and the team was over the moon to lift the big prize. The spade, he said, will have pride of place in the restaurant.

In total, 72 businesses received awards. Hospitality was strongly represented, with 16 gold winners from the sector including Grumpy Barista, Mharsanta, La Vita, Nico's and Manuka nightclub, while 43 businesses received silver awards.

Former Beechgrove Garden presenter Lesley Watson handed out the awards and told the winners that their planting brings wider benefits. They had cheered the city up with their colourful flowers, she said, and were doing wildlife good too.

Professor Beverly Bergman, Collector of the House, congratulated all the winners and thanked them for making the city more beautiful than ever with their displays.

The Let Glasgow Flourish awards were launched in 1983 by The Incorporation of Gardeners of Glasgow, and the Robertson Silver Spade was first awarded in 1992. Awards are presented at three levels, gold, silver and bronze, to commercial and institutional organisations that create and maintain displays the public can enjoy.

Next time you spot a hanging basket on a city centre street, there is a good chance a local business has put in the work to make Glasgow that little bit brighter.
