Brushworks Climbing on Black Street becomes a hub for Glasgow's bouldering scene

Glasgow's climbing community has a new place to gather. Brushworks Climbing, on Black Street, describes itself as Glasgow's newest premier indoor bouldering wall and cafe, and since opening it has become a hub for the city's growing climbing scene.

Brushworks was founded with the goal of making climbing accessible, social and creatively inspired. Its space brings together movement, community and culture, with a wide range of bouldering terrain for all abilities and high-quality route setting that changes regularly, so beginners and regulars alike always have something new to try.

Above the main bouldering space is The Gallery, an area of low-height climbing that is the perfect place for children to start their climbing journey. There is also a well-stocked commercial-style gym for cardio, strength and conditioning, and a separate stretching and yoga studio.

The cafe serves locally roasted coffee and fresh food, offering a comfortable place for climbers and visitors to work, eat and catch up. Membership includes use of the gym, yoga studio, cafe and showers, along with early access to events and classes.

First-time climbers need to complete an induction, either by watching a short video or by booking a session with a member of staff, and the team offers tailored tuition for anyone wanting to improve. The friendly staff are keen to make every visit fun and rewarding, with inclusive climbs for all ages and abilities.

Membership also brings exclusive savings and early access to classes, and the calendar runs from community events to friendly competitions, so there is always something coming up for climbers of every level.

The centre has quickly built a busy calendar, hosting competitions, events and student sessions while supporting sustainable and community-driven initiatives. Its next big competition, The Lord of the Blocs, takes place on 14 November 2026.
