Glasgow beauty-tech brand Aurum Hair Co. takes The AirHead to new markets

A Glasgow beauty-tech business is making waves well beyond the city. Aurum Hair Co., founded by Rebecca Edwards, is the company behind The AirHead, which it describes as the world's first blow-dry system with detachable roller barrels.

The idea is to rethink the blow-dry. The AirHead combines a high-performance hair dryer with detachable leave-in rollers, simplifying what used to take several tools and twice the time. As the hair cools, the volume sets, giving salon-level bounce that the brand says genuinely lasts.

In May 2026, Aurum brought the product to the heart of the city with a one-day pop-up blow-dry bar beneath the Victorian atrium of Princes Square. Working in partnership with luxury vegan haircare brand FFOR and Glasgow salon Bloom, the event offered guests a free salon-quality blow-dry from one of Bloom's stylists, using FFOR products and the AirHead, along with a drink and a goody bag.

Every ticket included a complimentary soft drink from Cuvee at Princes Square and a curated goody bag of FFOR and Bloom treats, while walk-ins were welcome throughout the day to see demonstrations of the AirHead.

Rebecca said she wanted to create something really special for Glasgow, in a space that felt worthy of the occasion. Princes Square is so iconic, she said, and the brands brought together are brilliant, making an experience she was genuinely proud of. She was on hand throughout the day to meet guests and give live demonstrations.

Wendy Murray, senior brand manager at FFOR, said the AirHead delivers exactly the kind of results the brand loves: effortless, long-lasting, polished and bouncy hair with real staying power.

Now the Glasgow brand is looking further afield. Aurum has opened pre-orders for customers in the United States and Canada, with shipping promised before Thanksgiving, a big step for a business that set out to bring the perfect blow-dry into people's homes.

For local customers, it is a homegrown success story, and proof that some of the most talked-about beauty innovations are being dreamed up right here in Glasgow.
