Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity celebrates 25 years with Kami Bear's Teddy Trail

Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity has been marking its 25th anniversary throughout 2026, and in September hundreds of supporters turned out for one of the highlights of the year, Kami Bear's Teddy Trail.
The annual sponsored walk, held in the heart of Glasgow, offered 5k and 10k routes through the city. Along the way, pit stops gave participants the chance to enjoy games and music, with pit stop partners including Glasgow Warriors, Caledonia Gladiators and SP Energy Networks. The event was sponsored by Allied Vehicles.
The charity's much-loved mascot, Kami Bear, was at the centre of the fun as supporters celebrated his birthday, with some walkers bringing their own teddies along. Afterwards, families, friends and NHS staff enjoyed food and entertainment from local businesses at an event village outside the Riverside Museum.
The money raised will help fund life-changing projects and support services for children, their families and the NHS staff caring for them at Glasgow's Royal Hospital for Children.
There was plenty to keep younger supporters entertained, too. Kami's birthday celebrations included a visit from ReptiZoo Encounters, while event village partners Rapid Relief Team UK and Ciceley Commercials helped make the post-walk gathering at the Riverside Museum possible.
Chief executive Kirsten Watson said the charity was so grateful to every single person who showed up to support children in hospital and fundraised for the charity, and thanked the event's sponsors for helping to make it possible.
Gerry Facenna, founder of Allied Vehicles Group, said the trail brings families, communities and local businesses together while raising awareness and support for such an important cause. The anniversary has inspired support from across Scotland. Throughout 2026, David Lloyd clubs around the country have been uniting to raise as much as they can for the charity, celebrating the impact it has had on young people and their families.
Twenty-five years on, the charity continues to make a difference to children's experience of hospital, and the turnout for the Teddy Trail showed how much it means to families across the city.
