King Tut's Wah Wah Hut has been launching careers for decades, and 2026 has been a particularly good year for the city centre venue. Its team has reported increased ticket sales and strong attendances, even during the quieter months that many live music spaces find hardest.

From January to March 2026, ticket sales rose by 2% compared with October to December 2025. The venue's month-long New Year's Revolution festival in January did even better, with ticket sales up 8% on 2025, an overall attendance rate of 92% and bar sales up 9%. More than 80 artists played across the month, including Diva Down, Stratus, Brodie Barclay, Juan Laforet and Ewan Mckenna.

General manager Davie Millar said the team is incredibly proud of the positive momentum. They have focused on high-quality, diverse line-ups and an atmosphere that keeps people coming back, whether it is a sold-out headline show or a midweek discovery gig. The goal, he said, is to encourage music fans to keep supporting their favourite grassroots venues.

The summer brought King Tut's Summer Nights, which ran from 9 July to 29 August with live music every Thursday to Sunday. More than 100 bands took to the stage across the eight weeks, giving emerging artists from Scotland and across the UK the chance to play regularly, meet new audiences and build their live experience.

Meg Denholm, who booked Summer Nights, said King Tut's has always been about giving great artists a stage, and the festival was a brilliant celebration of exactly that. Past Summer Nights line-ups have included Lewis Capaldi, The Snuts, Joesef and Katie Gregson-Macleod.

The venue is known around the world for its part in the stories of Oasis and Lewis Capaldi, and for supporting the early careers of artists such as Olivia Dean. Its programme spans indie, pop and rock through to hip-hop and electronic acts.

Plans for New Year's Revolution 2027 are already under way, and the listings are filling up with shows into the spring. For anyone who loves discovering a band before everyone else, a night at King Tut's remains one of Glasgow's great pleasures.
