On the banks of Loch Lomond in Balloch, Loch Lomond Shores has become a favourite family day out, and this autumn its calendar has been fuller than ever. The Balloch attraction describes itself as a unique five-star visitor attraction on the bonnie banks, where people can shop, eat and play all day.

During the October 2026 school holidays, visitors could enjoy the SEA LIFE Loch Lomond aquarium's Halloween activities, treetop adventures with Go Wild Loch Lomond, daily flying displays at the Loch Lomond Bird of Prey Centre and boat trips, paddleboards and canoes with Loch Lomond Leisure.

Families also tucked into dinosaur-themed dining at Jurassic Grill, which Loch Lomond Shores says is the first dinosaur-themed restaurant in Scotland, and enjoyed adventure golf, children's rides, woodland walks, a playpark and beaches.

Dogs were made especially welcome at Top Dogs on 17 October, with a Companion Dog Show featuring eleven categories, a doggie market, pet photography and training advice, while the Loch Lomond Shores Market returned the following day with artisan gifts, fresh produce and street food.

The SEA LIFE Ascarium ran from 10 to 31 October with Halloween photo opportunities and a magical quest with a special reward, while Go Wild Loch Lomond's Kids Nature Club gave children aged seven to 12 the chance to work towards their John Muir Award.

Markets are a regular fixture. The Sunday Market takes place on the first and third Sunday of every month, with stalls selling fruit and vegetables, meat, cheeses, handmade soaps and candles, craft beers, jewellery and crafts, alongside hot food vendors.

The attraction also gives back locally. Its Community Fund recently shared 4,000 pounds among local charities and organisations.

With Cafe Zest and the Churros Box on hand to keep everyone fuelled, and new stock arriving in the shops daily, it is easy to see why the Shores has become such a popular destination for families from Glasgow and beyond.

Loch Lomond Shores is in Balloch on Loch Lomond. Events and opening information are at lochlomondshores.com.
