For almost three decades, ORRO has been championing modern jewellery design in Glasgow. Established in the West End in 1997, the independent business was founded on the principle of promoting high-quality, well-designed, innovative contemporary jewellery, and that ethos remains as strong as ever.

ORRO is independently owned and run by founder Neil Smith and designer goldsmith Wes Zwiep. After 20 years in Glasgow city centre, the business returned to the West End in 2020, opening a boutique in Cresswell Street, just off Byres Road.

The gallery showcases collections from some of Europe's most talented jewellery designers, working in a wide range of conventional and unconventional materials. Alongside silver, gold and platinum, pieces use rubber, stainless steel and sustainable hardwoods, as well as natural diamonds, sapphires, semi-precious stones and vividly coloured lab-created gems.

ORRO's in-house bespoke service focuses on innovative design and high-quality craftsmanship, using ethical diamonds and gems and Fairtrade and recycled precious metals to create one-off pieces. Together with its designer collections, that makes it a destination for anyone looking for modern wedding rings or contemporary engagement rings.

The emphasis at the Cresswell Street boutique is always on the jewellery, carefully curated and presented in a relaxed, informal setting. Browsers are welcome to take their time looking around the gallery, and the team is always happy to help.

ORRO's journal shares news of visiting makers, such as an exhibition of work by Scottish jeweller Joanne Thompson, and of long-standing designer collections, including Gunter Wermekes' stainless steel and diamond pieces. The gallery also offers Own Art, a finance option for buying original art and craft.

Its collections range across rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and watches, with dedicated wedding and engagement ranges, all of which can also be explored online.

With its focus on independent design and responsible materials, ORRO offers a refreshing alternative for anyone looking for jewellery with real character, whether for a special occasion or simply a treat.

ORRO is on Cresswell Street, off Byres Road, in Glasgow's West End. Collections and the bespoke service can be explored at orro.co.uk.
