The parkland fairways of Pollok Golf Club were busy on Wednesday 26 August 2026 as the club hosted its Seniors Open, welcoming golfers from across the west of Scotland to compete across two divisions as well as a scratch category.

Pollok describes itself as one of Scotland's finest parkland golf courses, and the club is proud of its course design by Alister MacKenzie.

The overall Seniors Open title went to Stan Buchert of West Kilbride with 41 points, won on better inward half. In Division 1, John Fraser of Dumfries Golf Club took first place with 40 points, again winning the tie-break on the back nine, ahead of Pollok's own Allan Crooks, also on 40 points, with Colin Martin of Cardross Golf Club in third.

Division 2 was won by Peter McGlynn of Deaconsbank Golf Club with 38 points. Kwok Wah Yau of Pollok Golf Club was runner-up with 37 points, followed by Douglas Mackie of Haggs Castle Golf Club on 36. Edward Dallas of Lochview Golf Club recorded 34 points to take the scratch prize.

Seniors opens are a highlight of many club calendars, bringing together experienced golfers for a competitive but sociable day out, and the leaderboard at Pollok showed just how close the scoring was, with several places decided on the back nine. Pollok's own members were well represented among the prize winners, with Allan Crooks and Kwok Wah Yau both finishing in the top two of their divisions, a fine showing on home turf.

The spread of winners, from neighbouring Southside clubs to Dumfries and the Ayrshire coast, shows the appeal of the event and of the course itself.

The club congratulated all the winners and everyone who took part, and prize vouchers were sent directly to the competitors.

Open competitions like this are a great way for golfers to experience courses beyond their home club, and Pollok's calendar also includes visitor play through the summer months, with green fees and booking details published on the club's website.

Pollok Golf Club is on Glasgow's Southside. Visitor information, competitions and news are at pollokgolf.com.
