Springburn Pool reopens after a major refurbishment

Swimmers in the north of Glasgow have their pool back. Springburn Pool reopened to the public on Tuesday 23 June 2026 following a significant refurbishment, just in time for the school summer holidays.

Glasgow Life, the charity that leads culture, events and active living in the city, carried out the work to create a more comfortable environment for swimmers and to make sure Glasgow Club Springburn can keep serving the local community for years to come.

The improvements were extensive. The pool operating system and air handling units were upgraded, the poolside was redecorated with new tiling, and the changing village, poolside showers and toilets were all refurbished. New energy-efficient boilers and a modern ventilation system have been installed to help secure a sustainable future for the leisure centre, and signage throughout the building has been refreshed.

George Hunter, director of libraries, sport and communities at Glasgow Life, said Glasgow Club Springburn is a valued community facility, and the team was pleased to reopen the pool so local people can once again enjoy a high-quality space to swim, train and keep active.

The centre has a long history. It was built on the original site of the old Kay Street Baths and opened as a sports centre in the mid-1980s. A decade later it became Springburn Leisure Centre, when the swimming pool, a gym, dance studio, health suite and soft play area were added.

As one of the main public pools serving the north of the city, it has been the place where thousands of people have learned to swim, stayed active and socialised over the years. Glasgow Life describes the venue as a firm favourite for Glaswegians in the north of the city, with a modern gym, games hall and its newly refurbished pool.

Springburn is the fifth swimming pool in Glasgow to be refurbished since 2023 as part of a multi-million-pound investment in the city's pools.

The pool is open Monday to Friday from 6am to 9pm, and on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 4pm.
